3 Safe Locking Mechanisms To Consider And Their Benefits

Buying a safe can often be a confusing venture due to the many different types of safes and associated locking mechanisms, all of which offer their own set of benefits. Listed below are three safe locking mechanisms to consider and the benefits that they can provide.

Biometric

One of the more secure safe locking mechanisms that is available to you is a biometric lock. This option will allow you to open the safe by simply placing a finger on the fingerprint scanner.

In order to make things more secure, you can find biometric locks that will require that you place multiple fingers on the scanner to unlock the safe. This option is also very useful if you do not want to have to remember a passcode or simply do not want to fumble around for a key whenever you need to access the safe.

Wi-Fi Enabled

Wi-Fi seems to be making it into just about every type of product on the market these days, and safe locking mechanisms are no exception. One of the primary benefits of a Wi-Fi enabled safe is that it can allow you to easily access your safe from a smartphone app and unlock it from pretty much anywhere. This is especially useful because, if your significant other or someone else needs access to something in the safe and you are not in the area, you can simply log into the app and unlock it remotely.

In addition, a Wi-Fi enabled safe will allow you to receive notifications from the safe. For example, some of these safes will have motion detection built in that will notify you via the app when motion is detected near your safe. The safe can also notify you every time someone accesses the safe if you have authorized other people to have access to the safe via the app.

Multi-Stage

Finally, your best option when trying to get the most secure safe possible is one with a multi-stage locking mechanism. This option will require you to go through multiple steps in order to open the safe.

For example, one of these options may require you to scan your fingerprint, swipe a security card, or insert a key before allowing you to enter a combination to open the safe. In some cases, you can even opt for a multi-stage safe that will require a sequence of passcodes rather than just a single one, which will make your safe that much harder for unauthorized persons to access.

Contact a safe manufacturer or dealer like Brandy's Safe and Lock Inc. to discuss which safe option would be most suitable for the valuables that you intend to secure. Biometric, Wi-Fi enabled, and multi-stage safes are all great options to consider when buying a new safe.
